How A Lymphocyte MAP Tests Your Immune Strength

We are so excited to do a feature article on Cyrex Laboratories newest test addition, THE LYMPHOCYTE MAP™.  We had a great conversation with Michelle Clark, Vice President of Worldwide Sales, about Cyrex’s latest test and all the amazing features it offers. So, without further ado, let’s get started.

Hi Michelle! Great to chat with you. Let’s dive in - Can you give us a brief introduction to this test, including its name?

The THE LYMPHOCYTE MAP™ test is based on a culmination of 10 years of research and development by Aristo Vojdani, Ph.D. Chief Scientific Advisor at Cyrex. “This industry-changing test offers a more accurate picture of T-lymphocyte status than anything else currently available on the market,” according to Dr. Vojdani.

How does this test work?

The Lymphocyte MAP measures the integrity of the immune system at the cellular level by identifying 29 key lymphocyte biomarkers and determinants, including Th1, Th2, CD4, CD8, Treg, Th17, and the family of NK cells. Numbers, ratios, percentages, and activity (NRPA) are provided and organized into one of thirteen immunotypes.

What are the key features of this test?

  • Thirteen immunotypes uniquely designed to capture and highlight important immune trends revealed due to the comprehensive number of determinants and biomarkers tested.
  • T-helper-1 or T-helper-2 Dominance (Immunotypes 6 and 7) Includes the Cyrex Fluorescence-Activated Cell Test (FACT™), a breakthrough proprietary process, is used to classify Th1/Th2 balance, based on the specific clusters of differentiation (CD markers) on the surface membranes of Th1 or Th2 cells, and NOT on the measurement of Th1/Th2-associated cytokine levels in the blood, commonly used by other laboratories.
  • T-helper-17 Dominance (Immunotype 9) Includes the Cyrex FACT™, a proprietary process based on direct measurement of the CD markers on the surface membranes of the cells, and NOT by measuring IL-17 levels in the blood. These industry-changing features result in a more accurate picture of T-helper cell status than currently available on the market.
  • The most comprehensive immunophenotyping panel offered on the market, creating the broadest picture of immune status.

Wow, that sounds technical and cool! What are the main conditions practitioners are using this test for?

The Lymphocyte MAP provides an invaluable picture of the underlying conditions triggering immune deficiency, immune over-activity, infections, inflammation, autoimmunity, allergies, asthma, hypersensitivities, and cancers. The patient selection covers a wide array of cases, from healthy patients seeking optimum lifestyle and aging to those with previously diagnosed autoimmune conditions or perhaps recent exposure to COVID-19. The results can help plan and monitor a treatment regimen, with the ultimate goal of achieving “immune harmony.”

What technology do you use at your lab? Can you explain how the technology works?

Flow cytometry is a technique for cell counting and measurement of different properties of a cell. The Cyrex Fluorescent Activated Cell Test (FACT-TM) identifies Clusters of Differentiation (CD) markers using proprietary fluorescently labeled monoclonal antibodies to distinguish different cell populations accurately.

Wonderful! Thank you for taking the time to speak with us and introducing us to your new test, The Lymphocyte Map.
