The GI® Effects Gut Pathogen Profile from Genova Diagnostics provides a detailed assessment of an individual's gut microbiome for pathogenic and potentially pathogenic organisms.
The GI® Effects Gut Pathogen Profile measures stool specimens for bacteria, fungi, yeast, and parasites, including those that are pathogenic, infectious, and beneficial. The results are helpful for diagnosis and management, and assessment of treatment effectiveness.
This test is used to diagnose and manage patients with sudden changes in bowel habits, especially for those who have recently had exposure to untreated water, had close contact with animals, consumed undercooked meat or seafood, or anyone with symptoms such as gas, bloating, nausea, abdominal pain, anal itching, and diarrhea.
The GI® Effects Gut Pathogen Profile requires stool specimens for analysis. The selection of a one-day or three-day sample collection is based on the clinician's index of suspicion for parasitic infection. If there is no/low suspicion, a one-day sample will likely be adequate. For high suspicion, a three-day sample collection is optimal.
Test kits include collection tubes and detailed instructions. Test kits will be sent back to Genova Diagnostics, and results will be sent to your Rupa Health portal.
The GI Effects® Gut Pathogen Profile provides a comprehensive assessment of pathogenic or potentially pathogenic organisms in the gastrointestinal system.
